Walk to Work and Get a Healthy Life
Walking on a regular basis is a good way to improve your fitness levels and can improve your health; deciding to walk to work can therefore be an effective way of incorporating more walking into your day in order to get healthier. After all, that is what legs are for and if you refrain from using them, you will miss various health benefits associated with the joy of walking.
Health professionals recommend 30 minutes of exercise four or five times per week, but if you are out of shape, you can start with a 5, 10 or 15-minute walk, and gradually work your way up to a half an hour.
Walking to work is one way of doing this. It might take a little bit longer to get to work, but it is you who will benefit in the end. Walking is much more than moving your legs back and forth. It encourages your heart to pump faster, your body to burn fat, your muscles to gain strength and so many other goodies that many people are unfortunately not aware of.
You might think that walking to work is a real hassle, but the more you walk the more you will appreciate the benefits. It will become easier for you to walk, so that you are able to go faster and further, which is an indication that your fitness levels are improving.
There are many other benefits of walking and perhaps the most relevant is that walking ultimately prolongs life. Instead of sitting at your desk and drinking another cup of coffee, use your work breaks to walk around the office parking lot. You will find that walking is refreshing, relaxing, and positively addictive.
