The Importance of Vitamin D for Our Health

Vitamin D is important for our body. However, we often ignore our body needs of vitamin D until one day the lack of vitamin D has started to take effect in our body. Vitamin D is essential for our bones, so when your body lacked of vitamin D, your bone is the first to suffer. If you ever feel of bone pain and muscle weakness, it can be caused by vitamin D deficiency. However, even without bone pain as a symptom, vitamin D deficiency also can be harmful to our health. Low level of vitamin D in our blood can increase the risk of death from cardiovascular disease and cancer. In children, it can cause severe asthma while in older people it can cause cognitive impairment. Vitamin D also helps to prevent skin infections. You can also consume oregano oil to reduce the organisms which contribute to skin infections.

There are several possible causes why you lack vitamin D. It can be because you do not get enough exposure to sunlight. As we all know, the ray from the sun can help our body in forming vitamin D. Nevertheless, if you have dark skin, you need longer exposure time compared to those who have light skin since the pigment reduces our body ability to response to the sun ray. Age also plays an important role, as a person gets older, his kidney’s ability to activate the vitamin D in his body to its active form. Thus, older people have more risk in getting vitamin D deficiency.

To avoid vitamin D deficiency, you need to increase your exposure time to sunlight. Consume more food which contains vitamin D more such as fish, egg, grain and dairy products. You can also consume supplement like Bio D-mulsion to help you fulfill your vitamin D need.
