			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On average, Americans consume over 22 tablespoons of additional (dietary) sugar per day, which amounts to over 350 calories. When trying to diet, these extra calories add up, and count significantly, as this amounts to over 10% of the recommended caloric guidelines for most &#8220;average&#8221; people. In fact, over the past 25 years, the intake of sugar increased by an equivalent of 70 calories.</p>
<p>While most people do not pile on 22 tablespoons of sugar per day, our food manufacturers add sugar to food to make it more edible. These 22 tablespoons of sugar are in our food and drinks in a shape of high-fructose syrups or other sugar substitutes.</p>
<p>This increase in calories amounts to an annual weight gain of about 7 pounds for a typical person, because these extra calories are typically not made up by increased exercise. And, to make matters worse, these are empty calories &#8211; generally, the sugary foods are not something that is nutritionally recommended for us to eat.</p>
<p>We have written in other posts (see our resource box below for links!) that blood sugar is the principal driver of blood insulin. This is one of the key metabolic control hormones, and it is responsible for processing the extra energy within the fat cells. Increased blood sugar is well correlated to weight gain in normally healthy people.</p>
<p>Burning off the additional 350 calories of sugar requires more than 20 minutes of running by a person of average weight. How many of you run for at least that amount EACH day? And, this is very easy to shun.</p>
<p>Simply making better food choices should go a long way to reining in the extra, useless calories. Sugar and weight loss are, to a large extent, easily controlled with food choices. An example of such a smart choice would be substituting sugary drinks for no-sugar-added drinks, such as coffee, tea, or water. The latter is also very important to maintaining hydration, as an increase in exercise is typically required along with dietary changes for effective weight loss.</p>
<p>An example of other easy food substitutions are replacing high-sugar sweets with fruits (which have nutritional value of fiber), and replacing white and other enriched breads with whole grain breads. Yet another positive choice is substituting highly processed foods with meals cooked at home. Nobody is too busy to improve their own health.</p>
<p>Simple lifestyle alterations make a significant difference in weight loss. It is not necessary to kill oneself in a gym, nor is it generally useful to starve and restrict foods (only to cheat on the diet later). Check our links below for many other suggestions for healthy weight loss.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Losing fat is not an easy task.  The usual fat loss diets are extremely hard, the workouts do help tone muscles, but fat stays even as you lose weight.  So, what can you do to help?</p>
<p>You can jump away the fat.  Lose fat faster with rebounder exercise, and even faster when you incorporate circuit training principles.  Rebounding is fun, safe and easy to follow while exercising in the privacy of home.  Keep reading to learn why Rebounding is the best exercise to help you lose fat fast.</p>
<p>Rebounder exercise is jumping for a period of time on a small trampoline which is designed to use for daily exercise.  As you jump, your entire body is better able to move waste out, which is stored in and around fat cells and fatty areas.  The g-force created by jumping helps to move your lymphatic system by pumping your calf muscles, allowing your body to easily flush fat.  On top of all this, rebounding strengthens bones while toning all muscles and cells.</p>
<p>Rebounding brings more oxygen to all your organs and tissues, tones every muscle (including facial), helps increase circulation, increases white and red blood cell production, and stimulates your metabolism.  All of this creates the best fat loss workout while proving to be safer than other impact exercises including jogging.</p>
<p>To get more of a fat burning effect, try circuit training.  This is done by adding 30-60 seconds of aerobic type exercise in between resistance or muscle building exercise such as push ups or squats.  A common aerobic exercise used is jumping rope or jogging in place, which can be hard on ankles, feet and knees.  Rebounding can safely replace these exercises and make your workout more fun.  Just do a set of resistance exercise from 12 &#8211; 20 reps, then 1 minute of jumping, then another set of resistance exercise followed by another minute of jumping and so on until you have completed about 30 minutes of fat burning exercise.</p>
<p>Circuit training as a workout can help increase your fat loss by up to 20%.  You can burn more calories and build more fat burning muscle.  As you replace traditional exercise such as jogging or jumping rope with rebounding, you not only burn more fat, but you will receive the added benefit of helping your body flush fat, too.  This is a true powerful workout to help your body lose fat fast.</p>
<p>But &#8211; <strong>NEVER</strong> use a cheap quality mini trampoline.  A sub-standard rebounder can cause you to hurt yourself especially in the knees, ankles or even your back.  If you really are serious about fat loss using rebounder exercise, use one designed for safe, daily exercise.</p>

All foods, regardless of what type they are, do contain some amount of carbohydrates. There are, however, certain foods you will see on a list of carbohydrate free foods.</p>
<p>For a food to make it onto this list, it must contain the lowest amount of carbs. When they do, they are then listed as a free item. If, in a 100 gram serving, it contains less than 5 grams of available carbohydrates, then it qualifies to be considered free.</p>
<p>If you really want to get healthier, then you will be happy to note that there are a lot of vegetables on the list. Asparagus, bamboo shoots, arugula, broccoli, snap beans, green beans, cauliflower and cabbage all make the grade. Feel free to enjoy them all, even if you are restricting your diet.</p>
<p>A few fruits and nuts also meet the established criteria. Avocados, macadamia nuts, raspberries, strawberries and pecans are all foods you can splurge on. There are no meats that are not on it, finned fish is also included, plus crab, lobster and shrimp. If you like artificial sweeteners, you can also feel free to indulge in them.</p>
<p>You may be surprised to know that there are also many dairy products that make the list. Many items, such as butter, buttermilk, cheddar cheese, cream cheese, half and half, goats milk, mayonnaise and yogurt all qualify, as well. So your diet may not be as severely restricted as you expected.</p>
<p>This list does not even come close to including half of the list of carbohydrate free foods. If you visit the website of the USDA or just do an online search, you will find out how large your food options really are. Even if you have to watch your diet, you can enjoy many more things than you expected.</p>

<p>Omega-3 fatty acids, like those found in fish oil have so many benefits, I can&#8217;t help but not be grateful for it. Fish in many ways represents brain food, by weight the brain represents 60% fat by weight. Of this, 25-30% is the omega-3 fat DHA. Every decision we make as human beings is an orchestrated arrangement of electric signals firing across thousands of cells. Fatty acids play a key role in this process.</p>
<p>Some doctors swear that Omega 3&#8242;s are one of the most important supplement regardless of diet.    Supplements seem to be the most reliable way to get the required amount.  Blood tests can see the difference between people who consume low amounts of Omega 3&#8242;s and those who consume enough.  Omega 3 is known as a &#8220;heart&#8221; supplement.</p>
<p>There seems to be little downside in taking a multivitamin.  There are hundreds on the markets and millions of people have taken them without side effects.  The multivitamin is the best overall protection from not getting the right nutrition.  We prefer to eat right but when we don&#8217;t &#8211; consider the lowly multivitamin.</p>
<p>Vitamin D has been in the news lately as being deficient in many people.  Partly this is because we spend all our time inside.  Partly this is because it is almost impossible to get through normal diet.  Most people need to add a supplement if they want to get their required vitamin D for the day.</p>
<p>According to the Mayo Clinic: Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is produced by the human body and is necessary for the basic functioning of cells. CoQ10 levels are reported to decrease with age and to be low in patients with some chronic diseases such as heart conditions, muscular dystrophies, Parkinson&#8217;s disease, cancer, diabetes, and HIV/AIDS. Some prescription drugs may also lower CoQ10 level.</p>

We have a tendency to consume too little of this valuable anti-cancer nutrient. If you are the type of person that consumes junk food each day then it is time to make changes. Fiber food will provide you with an immediate boost and you will notice a reduction in the number of health ailments that you suffer from.</p>

Fibers are identified by the way, in which our body uses them. The body does not digest insoluble. Instead, this is the type of fiber that moves through our body, helping to remove waste and toxins. Soluble fiber remains in the body longer than insoluble fiber. The soluble version of fiber can lower cholesterol, a huge concern for many people today.</p>
<p>The average adult requires at least 25 grams of fiber a day. If you love to sample exotic foods then you may be pleased to discover that spices actually are a great source of fiber. You can also get the right amount of fiber into your diet by increasing the amount of green vegetables you eat.</p>
<p>Fiber can balance blood sugar as well as insulin and help us to feel satisfied after a meal. By eating more fibrous foods your colon will be able to remove waste products more effectively and therefore will be better able to absorb essential nutrients and minerals. In addition, a diet high in fiber may decrease your risk of diabetes, appendicitis, and cancer. It is very worthwhile for everyone to evaluate their fiber intake and perhaps find fun ways to consume more.</p>

<p><strong><span style="font-size: small;">Ginger Tea Recipe</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">• 4 Cups of cold purified or distilled water</span><span style="font-size: small;"> </span><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><span style="font-size: small;">• 2 to 3 inch pieces of fresh ginger root</span><span style="font-size: small;"> </span><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><span style="font-size: small;">• Honey and lemon, or</span><span style="font-size: small;"> </span><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><span style="font-size: small;">• A few cloves or dash of nutmeg</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Use a stainless steel or glass (never use aluminum) sauce pan and bring the water to a boil. Peel the ginger and slice it into thin diagonal slices, and add to the boiling water. Cover the pot and reduce the heat. Simmer for 15-20 minutes. Strain and add honey and lemon to taste.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Ginger is a very good digestive aid and is rich in antioxidants.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: small;">Peppermint Tea Recipe</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">• 6 tablespoon of fresh crushed peppermint leaves</span><span style="font-size: small;"> </span><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><span style="font-size: small;">• 2 cups of boiling water</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Let the tea brew for 3 or 4 minutes. The longer the brewing time the stronger the tea. Children will enjoy a cup of warm mint tea brewed in milk. Peppermint tea may be just the thing you need if you feel a little worn out or have the sniffles.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: small;">Red Clover Blossom Tea</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">• 1 ounce dried red clover blossom. Use organic grown if possible.</span><span style="font-size: small;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">• 1 qt. filtered water</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Bring the water to boil. Put the dried clover blossoms in a glass jar that has a tight fitting lid. Fill the jar with boiling water and tighten the lid. Let the tea infuse overnight. Drink 1 to 4 cups a day.</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: small;">Stress Reducer</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">• 1 cup of lemon balm leaves</span><span style="font-size: small;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">• 1 cup of linden leaves</span><span style="font-size: small;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">• ¼ cup of crushed valerian root</span><span style="font-size: small;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">• 1 tablespoon crushed ginger root</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Blend all the ingredients and store in an amber glass jar with a tight lid. Store in a cool dry place. Use one tablespoon of the mixture to a cup of boiling water. Strain and drink before retiring at night</span></p>
